Job Description

YMCA of Bucks County seeks engaging and responsible Aquatics Leaders.  Positions are available at our Doylestown, and Quakertown locations.  Come join us!

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Lifeguard Certification (required)
  • Strong swimming background
  • 1 year of experience working with children (preferred)
  • Ability to perform First Aid/CPR/AED/Emergency Oxygen (training provided)


Essential Functions

Guarding:  approximately 15 hours per week 

  • Ensure the safety of all pool participants
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pool deck
  • Effectively communicate with members, participants, and staff
  • Know, understand, and consistently apply safety procedures for pool and aquatic area

Group Lessons:  approximately 10 hours per week 

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and progressive skill development of all group swim lesson students
  • Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational lessons, in accordance with YMCA of the USA guidelines and procedures
  • Know, understand, and consistently apply safety procedures for the pool and aquatic area

Private Lessons:  approximately  15 hours per week

  • Responsible for leading program instruction for members and participants with different aquatic skills and comfort levels

  • Actively engage participants in appropriate adapted aquatics programming by adapting to  the YMCA swim curriculum to meet the needs of children/teens/adults appropriately
  • Provide behavioral support for safety in and around the pool.
  • Provide timely and appropriate feedback to students and their parents/guardians on individual performance
