Job Description

The Berwick Area YMCA is the premier non-profit in our county and enjoys a stellar reputation for meeting community needs through innovative programs that change lives and make an impact. As part of the senior management team, the Senior Director, Health Seeker Programs is responsible for the strategic direction and overall development of wellness, aquatics and sports programming. Coming off a successful capital campaign, the YMCA will break ground on a new full service gymnasium and 6,000 square foot wellness center in March of 2022. The Senior Director of Health Seeker Programs will support and supervise other directors and coordinators in other departments including wellness, aquatics and sports by providing leadership to all aspects of program operations. The position supervises three direct reports, driving outstanding program quality and enhancing the health-seeker experience. You will lead and coach others to strengthen current health-seeker programs while having the opportunity to drive the development of new and innovative programs in these brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities.

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university. BA/BS Health Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the delivery of healthy lifestyle programs with supervisory experience required. Demonstrated success in developing effective staff teams.
  • Experience serving on leadership team of a Y (or similar) membership organization serving over 3,000 members preferred.
  • Proven results in increasing program quality and growth through the development of sound operating systems, exceptional planning and organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, cultivate and retain program participants.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with members and others to achieve goals.
  • Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in problem-solving, planning and decision-making.
Essential Functions
  • Oversee daily operation of aquatic facilities, gymnasium and wellness facilities, ensuring the highest quality experience for members.
  • Supervises directors and coordinators. Provides leadership and direction through coaching and by providing overall direction to team.
  • Addresses the root cause of systemic issues rather than symptoms.
  • Represent the YMCA and maintain strategic relationships with area organizations, community leaders and businesses.
  • Coordinate the development and management of health-seeker programs to meet the needs of the community and achieve operating objectives.
  • Implement systems to ensure high-quality programs and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed in accordance with Berwick Area YMCA policy and all local, state & federal laws; ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the operating budgets for departments supervised and meet or exceed budget targets
  • Participate in special events, activities and meetings, including staff meetings, trainings, and assigned committees as requested. Serves on project teams for assigned innovation projects designed to incubate new products, services, and/or improve systems and processes
  • Responds to member and participant concerns in a timely manner, ensuring a positive program experience for members and participants. Anticipate and exceed expectations consistently throughout programs.
