Job Description

Under the general oversight of the Vice President of Social Responsibility, the Director of Counseling and Social Services will oversee and support counseling programs and services to children and adults in the community through our Center for Support. The Director of Counseling and Social Services will have a passion for helping others to succeed. He/she will develop, plan, implement and coordinate programs that will support the community in its behavioral, social, and counseling needs. In addition they will facilitate meetings, information sessions, educational workshops, groups and events related to social wellbeing and mental health for children/families, individuals who are homeless, and the community at large. He or she will also supervise mental health counselors, Homelessness Program case managers/workers, and group facilitators. The Director will complete biopsychosocial assessments; preferably will be familiar with the NJ Children System of Care, and have experience with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), and School Based Services

  • MSW/LCSW/LPC ( will consider right candidate in process of licensure) 
  • minimum of 5 years similar experience
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a must 
  • Excellent Leadership and Management Skills
  • Skills in planning, organizing, systematizing, implementing are essential
  • Supervision Certification ( or willing to get within 6 months)
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, honesty and faith 
  • Oversee and supervise Intensive- In -Community (IIC) counselors and Behavioral Assistants, Case Managers and group facilitators/volunteer.
  • Develop , implement and follow up on social programs i.e. family stabilization and support, Child and parent  programs, Homeless services, and school based counseling programs, 
  • Communicates with the Leadership Team and community partners. 
  • Work collaboratively with diverse communities and constituencies, while demonstrating high levels of personal and professional ethics, confidentiality and cultural competency.
  • Plan and implement effective events to promote and develop the social wellbeing of the community.
  • Assist VP of Social Responsibility to identify strategies for developing partnerships, community organizing and coalition building to create and sustain counseling and social services.

This is a Full Time, 40 hour week, salary postion.  Hours will vary and include some nights and weekends.
