Job Description

Coordinates and manages the operation of the housing or shelter programs in a manner that is consistent with our mission to strengthen communities by ending homelessness.  The director works to ensure that the programs are within the parameters of contractual and budgetary guidelines;  provides leadership and guidance to staff; and organizes/oversees the daily operations in accordance with best practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human service field  and experience working with homeless, mental health, drug and alcohol dependent or other special needs populations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years supervisory experience
  • YMCA Team Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months
  • Team leader certification requires: Principles and Practices; Introduction to Volunteerism; Introduction to Leading Others; Introduction to Fiscal Management; Leadership competency assessment; Team Leader Certification Test.

Essential Functions
  • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  • Acts as a member of the Leadership Team and functions in a Director on Call capacity.
  • Plans, monitors and evaluates the day-to-day operations, including safety & security operations.
  • Conducts, facilitates and evaluates emergency evacuation drills and trainings, maintaining appropriate facility records.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to the staff ensuring services and support to the guests/residents are adequate and meets basic needs.
  • Develops goals and objectives for training and program improvement.
  • Ensures adequate staff coverage of the program and facilities.
  • Attends community, funder and partner agency meetings as directed; communicates meeting updates, concerns and/or issues to the Executive Director and other staff as needed and directed.
  • Maintains and Conducts Monthly Facility (Building) Inspections, providing recommendations for routine/ongoing issues and concerns.
  • Works in collaboration with the Facilities Director to address building/facility and safety needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Agency Operating Procedure (AOP), CARF and Program Review & Certification (CSB).
  • Responds to emergency needs and coordinates action steps for resolution and prevention.
  • Meets regularly with staff to communicate issues, concerns and critique service delivery systems.
  • Review incidents, appeals and grievances to determine type and level of intervention and/or solutions, providing follow-up coordination and documentation.
  • Attends and participates in regular staff meetings, training, and special events, as needed.
