Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this is a full-time Staff Accountant position that supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Intermediate level MS Excel and MS Word experience and knowledge
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data entry
  • Experience using general database management software or the strong willingness and capability to learn
  • Adhere to the internal controls and procedures
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, members, vendors and all levels of staff
  • Position requires ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing processes and situations
Essential Functions
  • Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Assist with Monthly, Quarterly, Year-end Close Activities and Annual Audit
  • Accounts Payable functions including online payment processing and uploading invoices and transactions to the accounting system
  • Prepare Monthly Journal Entries, as required
  • Act as Camp Enrollment Lead during the summer and actively monitor Camp enrollment and be the primary contact for parents regarding concerns of cancellations and movement from the wait lists as availability is created
  • Aid as an administrative contact for Parent support and assistance for all non-programmatic concerns with Camp experience (billing, registration, communication, preparation)
  • Follow up on camp balances due every week and inform Directors for assistance as necessary
  • Other functions and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Finance/CFO
