Job Description

Under the direction of the Audio Visual Manager and the Conference Set up & Services (CSS) Manager, the Audio Visual Specialist is responsible for ensuring the delivery and operation of audio visual equipment in all auditoriums and meeting spaces. Furthermore, they must lead team members through job training, oversee set ups for 70+ meeting room/ event spaces, maintain cleanliness in all meeting spaces and provide hospitality to the groups occupying those locations. This individual is required to possess superior troubleshooting, project management, and interpersonal skills. 



  • Knowledge of audio, video, and lighting technology.
  • Previous conference/banquet experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, vacuum, walk and scrub using a variety of cleaning chemicals. 
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills pertaining to the job.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts - sometimes early mornings or late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.  
  • Musical aptitude preferred.
  • Able to speak and write in English.
Essential Functions
  •  Oversee audio visual equipment: keeping inventory, operating, repairing, troubleshooting, programming, and testing.
  • Serve as Front of House Engineer and event technician, including all components of live sound reinforcement: EQ, effects, house mix, monitor mix, sound check, and live performance.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills necessary to meet the individual AV needs of groups and conferences.
  • Provide office reception as needed, including radio dispatch and interdepartmental communication via phone, radio, and email.
  • Deliver, set up, and take down tables, chairs, stage, and audio and video equipment for concerts, conferences, family programing events, and staff events in meeting spaces and auditoriums, and provide technical support as required.
  • Operate and set programmable lighting systems; position auditorium theatrical lights as required by guests.
  • Manage or assist with special AV and CSS projects.
