Job Description

The Gymnastics and Competitive Team Director at the North Attleboro branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA provides quality gymnastics programming and competitive team experiences to youth gymnasts, members, and visitors.  The Gymnastics Director has oversight and accountability for program growth, staffing and management of coaches and instructors, as well as the overall progression and development of youth participants in recreational classes, competitive lower level teams, member benefit activities such as open gym time and birthday parties, and gymnastics summer camp.

On a regular day the Gymnastics Director will manage schedules, provide regular and effective communication with staff, participants, and parents, deliver high-quality coaching and skill development, support the transition of non-competitive program participants to team level, develop and choreograph floor routines, and onboard and train staff. The Gymnastics Director will be accountable for the strategic and overall growth of programming and ensure consistent quality gymnastics experience by meeting community needs.

The successful candidate will have previous gymnastics experience personally or professionally, and an interest in further developing a connection to the sport through a career. Progressive experience managing staff and an optimistic team-oriented attitude is a must, as is the ability to connect with youth and staff of all ages by inspiring and motivating them to achieve success.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience coaching gymnasts through level 10
  • General knowledge of Xcel or JO compulsory code of points
  • Ability to work Tuesday through Saturday, attending competitions and team practices and maintaining a flexible schedule throughout the competitive season
  • Must be able to perform the physical skills necessary for participation in leading gymnastics programs
  • Ability to safely spot gymnastics skills through level 10
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications or must acquire within three months
Essential Functions
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Ensures the positive execution of instructional, wellness and relationship goals of our gymnastic programming in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information and schedules, may organize and schedule program registrations as needed.
  • Leads in planning and implementation of Gymnastics events and activities calendar.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Understands and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events, ensuring proper cleanliness, maintenance, and security with all program areas and equipment.
  • Communicates effectively and builds positive relationships with YMCA members, program participants, and families through daily interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and issues in a timely manner.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in the programs and implements strategies to improve overall success of programming.
