Exciting opportunity for energetic YMCA professional to lead a youth & sports department in an urban/suburban YMCA. Department administers both on-site and off site youth and sports programs. Successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop skills in staff supervision, budget management and program development. Outgoing personality and strong customer service orientation a must. Working with a diverse population in an urban environment is a plus as is a background in sports . Lowell is a historic city about 25 minutes north of Boston that has access to many varied entertainments, including the White Mountains and beaches of New Hampshire, numerous outdoor opportunities in Maine and the Cape Cod Sea Shore. YMCA experience preferred.

Qualifications
  • Degree in physical education, recreation or related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience in youth & sports program..
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills,
  • Computer proficient.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Essential Functions
  • Manages youth & sports programs, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures.
  • Hires, trains and supervises staff and volunteers for youth & sports programs.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors youth & sports department budget. Assesses and recommends budgeting for facility and equipment needs.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, and other volunteer committees as assigned.
  • Develops, produces and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote  programs to the public and to current members.
  • Coordinates all gym rentals.
  • Ensures that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Collaborate with community agencies including schools, local/county governments.
  • Be available to work hands-on in youth and sports programs as needed.
  • Provides data and reports on assigned programs in a timely fashion as requested.
  • Assists in supervision and development of special events @ the Y.
  • Represents the YMCA at various community meetings as requested.
  • Attends all staff meetings and trainings required.
  • Assume general building/administrative duties as assigned.

Required Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; sports management, recreation management or related field of study preferred. 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in staff supervision and leadership required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in sports or customer service related field strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; Daxko systems experience a plus.
  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required.
