Director of Talent Acquisition

Job Description

Under the direction of the SVP/Chief Human Resources Officer and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, the Director of Talent Acquisition shall be responsible for researching, developing, and implementing effective recruiting, onboarding, and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and high-potential talent for the Association. The Director of Talent Acquisition will monitor recruitment procedures, from sourcing to hiring, and manage a team of recruiters to identify high-potential candidates. The  Director of Talent Acquisition will work with Marketing and Communications to build a strong employer brand.

 

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
  2. Y-USA Team Leader Certification (or equivalent) required within two years and must begin working towards certification within 6 months. 
  3. Prior experience managing full-cycle recruiting, hiring, and employer branding initiatives.
  4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster long-term relationships (with internal teams, external partners, and candidates.)
  5. Excellent interpersonal and team skills with good negotiation tactics.
  6. Solid understanding of sourcing techniques and tools (e.g. social networks)
  7. Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  8. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  9. Familiarity with laws, regulations applicable to hiring and recruitment.
  10. Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) and HR databases.
  11. Strong analytical skills to create, measure, and scale program metrics.
  12. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  13. Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire.
  14. Complete and maintain required trainings to include: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment.
  15. Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.
Essential Functions
  1. Support the mission, vision, and goals of the YMCA.
  2. Promote a professional working environment through character development by modeling the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  3. Lead in a manner that advances our cause to strengthen the foundations of community. 
  4. Manage talent acquisition process, including sourcing, testing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding, ensuring measurement of recruitment methods.
  5. Assist in the development and implementation of a full-cycle strategy to attract, recruit, hire and retain internal and external candidates. Identify, document, and communicate process improvement opportunities. 
  6. Act as a liaison between candidates and interviewing teams and facilitate and manage the candidate interview and selection process to ensure fair and defensible selection decisions.
  7. For Exempt positions: coordinate and facilitate panel interviews, present employment offers, manage and close candidate negotiations, and create and manage onboarding and 30/60/90-day follow-up plan.
  8. Work with Program Executives to build talent pipelines for current and future job openings.
  9. Manage HRIS recruiting software.
  10. Train and advise leadership on all aspects of the recruitment process, including but not limited to hiring, equity, job development, orientation, and consistent compensation procedures and processes.
  11. Assist in the job descriptions process, including but not limited to ensuring all are up to date, accurate and compliant with relevant federal, state, and local laws for all positions.
  12. Hire, train, and develop team of recruiters passionate about the YMCA’s mission.
  13. Develop and manage external partnerships with colleges, job boards, and community agencies.
  14. Work with Marketing and Communications to develop digital and traditional recruitment campaigns.
  15. Prepare and manage assigned annual budget.
  16. With CHRO, forecast hiring needs based on business growth plans.
  17. Participate in and host recruitment events to drive awareness of our Y.
  18. 18. Develop a network of potential future hires (e.g. past applicants and referred candidates)
  19. Measure key recruitment metrics, such as source of hire and time-to-hire.
  20. Act as a leader in emergency situations. Report any accidents or incidents according to Emergency Communication Action Plan, in a timely manner.
