Salary: $66,300 Annually

The North Brooklyn YMCA is seeking an Assistant Beacon Director who will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day administration and supervision of the Beacon Center in partnership with the Beacon Director or in their absence. The Assistant Beacon Director shares responsibilities with the Beacon Director for hiring, training, and supervising staff and volunteers, developing programs and budgets, and maintaining program quality and records.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience developing and implementing youth programs and staff supervision, training, and development.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Group Work Counseling, Crisis Intervention, and proactive problem-solving preferred. 
  • Knowledge of youth/adolescent growth and development. 
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to teens as a positive adult role model.
  • Experience in marketing and budgeting.
  • Experience in SACC Licensing Procedures.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, or AED certifications.
  • Computer-literate.
  • Ability to multitask.
Essential Functions
  • In conjunction with the Beacon Director, hire, train, develop, and directly supervise part-time employees and volunteers, and evaluate program staff. Provide staff orientation and professional development, and conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Develop, maintain, and supervise the implementation of Beacon Center Programs that focus on the physical, recreational, and educational needs of participants, including Afterschool, Saturday Recreation Program, Teen Programs, Rowe Scholars Programs, and Adult and Evening Programs.
  • Monitor purchases and inventory of program equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare and monitor program budgets, payroll, and other management tasks as required by the Director.
  • Participate as necessary in Beacon Program, Branch, Association, and DYCD Directors meetings, such as Youth & Family Team Meetings, Middle School Leadership Meetings, Y Schools Meetings, and DYCD-Beacon Advisory Board.
  • Maintain registration, attendance, surveys, and questionnaires, and comply with SACC, DOE, DOH, and DYCD requirements. Ensure timely data input in DYCDOnline.org, YouthServices.net, and the AS400 system, and submit reports as needed.
  • Participate in branch events, including, but not limited to, the Annual Support Campaign, Open Houses, and Family Events.
  • Organize special events and serve as staff liaison with School Administration.
  • Supervise Sub-Contracted Programs, Co-located Programs, Referral Linkage, and Reciprocal Agreements.
  • Assist the Beacon Director in developing the DYCD Beacon Advisory Board.
