Job Description
The District Executive Director will lead the Lake Community YMCA branch while providing strategic oversight to two additional YMCA branches within the district. This leader is responsible for ensuring consistent delivery of high-impact programs, exceptional membership experiences, and strong fiscal performance across the district. At the Lake Branch, the District Executive Director will work in close partnership with an Associate Executive Director to manage daily operations. Additionally, they will supervise and support the Executive Directors of the two other branchers, fostering collaboration, operational excellence, and alignment with the YMCA's mission and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human services, business, nonprofit management, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership - preferably in YMCA or similar nonprofit environment; experience managing multiple locations or teams is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success in fiscal management, fundraising, staff development, and community engagement
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and strategic thinking skills
- Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA, including caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
Essential Functions
- Branch Oversight (Lake YMCA): Serve as the primary leader of the Lake YMCA, directly managing operations, programs, and staff, with the support of an Associate Executive Director. Lake branch budget of 1.6 million, branch staff of 6 full-time directors.
- District Leadership: Provide supervision and strategic support to Executive Directors at two additional YMCA branches. Ensure alignment in operational standards, member experience, and community engagement.
- Strategic Planning: Lead and implement strategic goals and initiatives across the district in partnership with senior leadership. Monitor key performance indicators and adjust plans to achieve goals.
- Fiscal Management: Develop and manage budgets for the Lake branch and support fiscal responsibility across the district. Analyze financial performance, control expenses, and drive revenue growth through programs, memberships, and philanthropy.
- Board and Community Relations: Serve as the primary liaison with the Lake YMCA Advisory Board. Partner with community stakeholders, donors, and volunteers to build meaningful relationships that enhance the Y's visibility and impact.
- Talent Development: Mentor and develop branch leadership teams, ensuring a culture of high performance, accountability, and staff engagement.
- Program and Membership Excellence: Drive innovation and excellence in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility programs. Promote membership growth and retention by ensuring high-quality member engagement strategies.
