Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Program Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Family Services Director is responsible for the administration of Family Services programs including Afterschool and Day Camp, as well as assisting with Teens. This position is also responsible for research, development and implementation of additional programs and services to serve the community.

Qualifications

 4-year college degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field OR 4 years of applicable experience with  North Carolina Division of Child Development Licensing Requirements.

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven supervisory experience in Youth Program Development.
  • Proven experience to include:  supervision of staff and volunteers, creative program planning, development and management of budgets as well as financial development.
  • NC Early Childhood Administrator Level 2 or higher obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Solid Interpersonal/Public Relations skills; ability to relate to members, volunteers, external entities, and other YMCA staff.
  • Ability to develop and execute short and long term plans with a high degree of quality, effectiveness, and professionalism.
  • Must demonstrate emotional maturity, well versed in conflict management/resolution and workforce readiness.
  • Must have basic understanding of YMCA policies, procedures and program development and evaluation.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to independently compose correspondence.
  • Must be organized and well detailed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years experience in licensed Early Childhood Education or School Age Child Care program a plus.
Essential Functions

Program Development & Management:

  • Management of Licensed Before/Afterschool and Camp and assisting Teen Programs, including planning for growth of program areas.
  • Research, development and implementation of additional family services programs and services.
  • Overall responsibility for producing quality program experiences and day-to-day management of assigned program areas, associated staff (full-time and part-time) and branch transportation program.
  • Development of departmental budgets including revenue generation and expenditure management.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff for assigned program areas.
  • Run all program areas in accordance with YMCA Quality Standards.  Ensure that program standards and quality guidelines are met or exceeded.
  • Market & promote all programs and community-based events with emphasis on program quality and growth.
  • Ensure Afterschool and Day Camp programs consistently meet NC Childcare Licensing Requirements and Association Quality Standards.
  • Ensure that all requirements, certifications, policies and procedures required for licensing are met and followed.
  • Meet all program enrollment goals including timely collection process of all fees.
  • Support and participate in all aspects of the Member Connection Plan as well as the Association’s strategic goals.
  • Maintain adequate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Uphold current facility maintenance standards in all major areas of responsibility.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure collaboration with marketing team for program promotion.
  • Participate in and provide leadership for the Annual Outreach Campaign in all assigned areas.
  • Represent the YMCA and maintain appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders and businesses.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to provide additional resources for programs.
  • Seek various Grants and/or contracts to assist in program areas.
  • Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned.
