Job Description

The Executive Director (ED) of the Elizabeth Branch YMCA is a high-profile leadership role responsible for the branch’s strategic direction, operational success, and financial sustainability. The ED will oversee housing and social services programs, membership engagement, program and staff development while fostering a strong community presence. This leader will drive growth, ensure high-quality member experiences, and develop a dedicated team of professionals to advance the YMCA’s mission.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 7-10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, housing, membership services, or program development.
  • Proven experience in financial management, fundraising, and strategic planning.
  • Strong ability to lead and develop teams in a mission-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with varied communities and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent related working experience in a YMCA or similar type of organization; master’s degree in social work, business, public administration, or related field preferred.
Essential Functions

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Implement strategic plan priorities to drive membership and program growth.
  • Oversee housing programs, ensuring compliance, financial viability, and community impact.
  • Monitor and manage the branch’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability and growth.

Staff & Member Engagement

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a team of 80 staff members.
  • Foster a welcoming and mission-driven work culture aligned with YMCA values.
  • Enhance member engagement strategies to increase retention and satisfaction.

Community Relations

  • Actively representing the YMCA in the community, building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Develop partnerships with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations.

Fundraising & Resource Development

  • Lead fundraising initiatives, securing financial support from grants, donors, and sponsorships.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities to support the YMCA’s mission and programs.
