Summer Camp dates are from June 16th, 2025 - August 22nd, 2025. Working hours are Monday - Friday are from 7:30am - 5:30pm. Shifts are either 7:30 am - ratio or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Camp Staff are required to attend weekly staff meetings on Thursday nights at 5:30 pm.
Mandatory full day Camp Training dated (subject to change): May 31st, June 1st, June 7th & June 8th
Under the supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director, the camp counselor is responsible for helping to plan and implement camp programming, identify and meet camper needs, lead and guide group of campers, while maintaining YMCA day camp standards and DPH standards.

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary--SUMMER SEASONAL
Schedule: 40 hours a week from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm with occasional weekend and weeknight trainings and meetings
Pay: $16.00 per hour for new hires, $16.50 for 1 year history returning Camp Counselors, and $17.00 for 2+ years history returning Camp Counselors. Plus, benefits include access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program & Sick Leave.

- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications
- Desire and Ability to work with children indoors, outdoors, and in the pools.
- Ability to assist in teaching an activity.
- Ability to relate to one’s peer group.
- Good character, integrity, and adaptability
- Have reliable transportation to get to camp on time on a regular basis.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
- At least 16 years of age
- Supervise & ensure the safety of all campers
- Facilitate and lead camp activities including: sports, games, arts & crafts, swimming, and field trips
- Keep attendance of all campers and make sure you know where campers are at all times
- Follow emergency procedures when necessary including CPR/AED/First Aid when needed
- Assist in camper pick up and drop off in the mornings & afternoons
- Communicate in a respectful & friendly manner when needed to parents/guardian of campers
- Assist with clean up, setting up/taking down equipment, and encourage campers to pick up after themselves
- Model YMCA values like caring, honesty & respect and build positive rapport with campers
