Job Description

The Controller oversees the Y's accounting and financial operations, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role manages financial processes, including payroll, grants, fixed assets, and reporting, while collaborating with staff to promote financial integrity and operational efficiency. The Controller leads a skilled team, supports budgeting and strategic planning, and serves as a key liaison for audits.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 5-7 years in accounting/finance; 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Expertise in financial systems and advanced Excel/Word skills.
  • Experience in not-for-profit audits and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
Essential Functions
  • Supervise financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable and payroll.
  • Prepare financial reports, analyses, and presentations.
  • Manage grant compliance and ensure adherence to audit requirements.
  • Direct budgeting, cost-saving initiatives, and strategic planning.
  • Lead and train accounting staff and ensure compliance with policies.
