Only 20 minutes to Rocky Mountain National Park, Camp Chief Ouray offers scenic views in every direction. The camp is located on the property of Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colorado.

Job Description

The Camp Nurse is responsible for health-related policies and procedures as set forth by the Head Nurse and the local attending Physician. This position oversees all medication distribution for the week, supervision of one seasonal position, assist with the day camp medical needs on a limited basis, and record keeping of medical center. 

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the State of Colorado or obtain appropriate reciprocity.  

Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time. 

Willingness to comply with YMCA and Colorado Department of Transportation rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles 

Must have a valid US Driver's license or, if required, a Commercial Driver's License. 

Must have a satisfactory driving safety record (Verified by MVR Review) 

Drivers must complete a YMCA driver training program. 

Must have current certification in CPR/First Aid or be willing to obtain certification. 

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ALL CAMP CHIEF OURAY STAFF: 

Create a safe space for all campers, families, and staff. Promote safe work practices to allow for development and growth for all. 

Possess the mental, social, and emotional skills necessary to build rapport and positive relationships, putting camper needs first 

Respond to camper and customer requests for service, troubleshoot problems and develop solutions in a patient and respectful manner. 

Contribute to a cooperative and positive camp community, be a team player  

Be responsible for the upkeep of the camp facility and cleanliness of camp. Report any repairs in a timely manner.  

Assist other departments as needed 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR CAMP NURSE:

Ability to follow Standing Orders from Camp Physician in regards to YMCA of the Rockies. 

Ability to be organized to maintain camper and staff medication and storage, and records of medications distributed and/or physical ailments treated. 

Ability to be on-site for the duration of the camp week through check-in of the following week (Sunday – Sunday). 

Ability to communicate effectively with parents of campers and the Summer Camp Director to update on any ailments or recommendations for treatment. 

Assist in filling out reports for State and Child Care Licensing requirements. 

Assist day camp program for State licensing requirements, ensuring that logs are filled out correctly and any medications distributed are recorded properly.
