Job Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for running payroll for YMCA Enterprise Shared Services (YESS) Y-participant employees. Performs duties with an understanding of company policies, systems, and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Minimum associate’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, human resources or other business-related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Federal, state, and local employment laws relating to FLSA and pay practices.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems for payroll processing and data management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft tools and other applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Essential Functions
  • Process payroll ensuring the accuracy of payments to employees.
  • Day-to-day payroll functions including timecard maintenance, employee changes, garnishment and PTO administration.
  • Audit employee payroll data, payments, and hours to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure all benefit payments are accurately deducted on paychecks.
  • Process leaves of absence and terminations with accuracy according to state laws. 
  • Process stop payments, reversals, and replacements. 
  • Assist employees and managers with time and attendance issues.
  • Follow internal payroll policies and act in accordance with relevant laws.
  • Prepare and process end of the year reporting requirements and W2 forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
