Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Childcare Programs is responsible for the nurturing and development if each child enrolled in our EEC licensed Preschool, Early Learning Center and School Aged Childcare programs. The Director Childcare will work directly with each Site Coordinator and Center Director to oversee the supervision and management of each licensed site with a focus on curriculum development and implementation. Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Childcare will develop an inclusive environment that promotes a creative educational space for youth to express themselves.  

Qualifications

1.    Bachelors Degree in related field.

2.    Must be at least 21 years of age.

3.    Fulfillment of all Early Education and Care (EEC) hiring requirements

4.    Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, highly organized and ability to work independently and within a team.

5.    Demonstrated ability to develop and implement curriculum.

6.    Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid, YMCA/Redwoods Safety trainings.

7.    Minimum of 20 hours of on-going training in early education and child care.

8.    Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
segments of the community

9.    Aptitude for Microsoft Office suite

10.  Ability to independently prioritize and function smoothly under pressure and within deadlines.

Essential Functions

1.    Provides a safe, happy and healthy environment by adhering to all EEC regulations and all YMCA child protection policies.

2.    Ensures program licenses and inspections are up to date and posted.

3.    Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs personnel. Reviews, and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and volunteers to achieve goals.

4.    Ensures all staff are up to date with their EEC requirements of fingerprinting, physicals, trainings, etc.

5.    Develops and monitors annual childcare budgets, reporting monthly on variances, and adjusting when needed.

6.    Provides monthly staff in-service trainings in cooperation with each center and site director based on the needs of the staff and program.

7.    Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners and actively participates in community meetings as assigned.

8.    Ensures family satisfaction by daily in person communication, as well as responding quickly to phone calls and emails.

9.    Prepares and submits all reports required for grants and other funders in cooperation with the development team.

10.  Actively participates in team meetings and committees as assigned.

11.  Promotes year-round Educational Enrichment and Healthy Eating and Physical Activities (HEPA)

12.  Adheres to all YMCA policies.

13.  Performs other duties as assigned.
