Job Description
This 3-year, grant-funded position under the direction of the Y’s Chief Social Impact Officer, will advance the work of the Atlanta Water Safety Coalition. The Atlanta Water Safety Coalition established in 2023 includes the Y, the City of Atlanta’s Parks & Recreation Department, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the American Red Cross, the Greater Atlanta Water Safety Alliance, SwemSchool, WABE, and 11Alive. The Coalition’s purpose is to drive greater awareness of water safety-with a focus on age-based strategies and to create opportunities for greater access for youth and teens, especially people of color, for swim lessons and water safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in program, project, or people management OR a High School diploma or GED with 5+ of experience in program, project, or people management
- 3+ years of experience in outreach, advocacy, coalition building or campaigns
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional meetings
- Highly skilled at planning, organizing, and leading multiple projects, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines
- Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of water safety practices and education is highly desirable.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and build consensus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Ability to build strong relationships with peers and lead through influence to achieve goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A background in Public Health
- 6+ years of experience in project management
Essential Functions
- Codify the Y’s Association-Wide Water Safety Strategy.
- Build, manage, and grow the Atlanta Water Safety Coalition.
- Work collaboratively to develop the Coalition’s short term and long-term strategic plans.
- Lead efforts to develop a dashboard of shared metrics to track impact across the organizations.
- Develop a data dashboard and draft quarterly stakeholder progress reports.
- Provide project management of Atlanta Water Safety coalition meetings, events, and all communications.
- Actively work to create systems and processes that support collaboration across partners and build efficiencies.
- Advocate for water safety initiatives and engage with community stakeholders to raise awareness and support for the Coalition’s goals.
- Collect and manage a repository of frequently cited statistics, data, and outcomes for reporting to partners, and supporters.
- Design and update presentation decks and other documents that support the Coalition.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for data that supports the Coalition.
