The Milwaukee YMCA is seeking a dedicated childcare professional to join our team as the Director of School Age Education.
Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive School Age Education, and in the accordance with the 
Association policies, the Director School Age Education will be responsible for the daily administration of the School Age Education programs and their activities at the various sites. The Director School Age Education supervises and guides the School Age Child Care staff to ensure that children’s development occurs in a safe and healthy environment. 

Qualifications

1. Preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Education, Special Education, Sports and Recreation or related field from an accredited college/university, course work must include six credits in early childhood education (Registry level 12 or higher).
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. 3. 3+ years working in an organized children’s program.
4. 3+ years supervisory experience .

6. Able to manage multiple priorities with a high volume of work.
7. Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
8. Physically able to maintain order and safety in a school setting.

Essential Functions

1. Hire, onboard, train, manage, and evaluate School Age staff to achieve desired program outcomes; nurture and role model leadership skills in high-performing “A” level team members through career development plans.
2. Practice strong fiscal stewardship through the development and monitoring of an approved annual budget with recommended adjustments; assist with the management responsibility for overall fiscal management of the service areas assigned including variance reporting, forecasting/development and execution of plans to remain within budget.
3. Ensure School Age Programs are operating in accordance with the Young Star and Wisconsin Department of Early Care and Education rules and regulations for Child Care, including but not limited to staff patterns, ratios, equipment needs, 
program environment, surveys and records through sound operational practices. 
4. Be available to be in ratio during program hours. 
5. Monitor payments to ensure financial operations. Ensure expenses for staff, snacks, and supplies are within budget.
6. Supervise and lead multiple School Age Site staff and programs by providing direction, leadership and support in the areas of programming, and leadership.
7. Maintain responsibility for all program, enrollment and staffing patterns of School Age sites.
8. Develop and Implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that are in keeping with all association and YMCA of the USA guidelines.
9. Maintain School Age Child Care programs that meet the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of individual children through age-appropriate key experiences including safety and risk reduction.
10. Assist with the development of staff meetings and ensure that staff meet continuing education requirements; organize and be a lead in staff training and staff meetings, including required workshops or pre-school Age Education/Day Camp/Youth Development trainings.
11. Promote partnerships with families by addressing concerns and communicating program/site objectives.
12. Accountable to Executive School Age Education for execution of Association policies, procedures, licensing and Young Star standards.
13. Assist with development and execution of strategic planning to support increased program quality and growth.
