The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a dedicated and personable Senior Director to lead our Tacoma Center YMCA!
Job Description

As a Senior Director, you will be responsible for ensuring a positive member experience while overseeing multiple departments at our Tacoma Center Location.

If hired, the Senior Director will plan, coordinate, develop, direct, administer, and monitor strategies to align a positive member experience with the Y mission including fiscal management, marketing and communication, center programs, special events, the development of staff, finances, and daily operations of several departments.

In this position, the Senior Director will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, coaching and evaluating employees and volunteers to ensure staff are representative of the mission of the YMCA. 

Compensation: $67,724.80 to $68,724.80 per year, depending on qualifications 

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week  

Location: Tacoma Center YMCA, Tacoma, WA

Qualifications
  • Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment. 
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or three to four years related knowledge and experience that includes supervision, fiscal management, program development, staff and volunteer development.   
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations. 
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance. 
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred. 
  • YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, CPR for the Professional, AED First Aid, and Oxygen certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days. 
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required. 
Essential Functions
  • Plan, develop, and evaluate Department Operations, acquisition and retention strategies through our collaborative operations. 
  • Track, analyze and provide useful information and action plans from department and membership statistics. 
  • Identify and develop small groups and activities that facilitate member relationships.  
  • Develop, implement, and manage operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA.  
  • Execute strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA. 
  • Responsible for safety drills/audits, monthly documented staff meetings/development and trainings.
  • Building and expanding program enrollment and participation
  • Ensure high quality member-focused outcomes through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff. 
  • Keep all staff up-to-date in pertinent information, YMCA policies and procedures. 
  • Coordinate special events and activities. 
  • Ensure that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed and assure compliance with state and local regulations.  
  • Walk through the entire facility on an ongoing basis to ensure safety guidelines and cleanliness standards are maintained and member’s needs are being met. 
  • Respond to incident, accident, and behavior concerns. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Provide staff breaks as required. 
  • Develop and monitor zero-based budget for department budget and related areas and operate programs within the guidelines of established budget, revenue and expenses. 
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers in the member services department.  
  • Determine staffing needs and schedules to assist existing and prospective members regarding their individual membership needs and to ensure the highest quality service to our members.  
  • Facilitate communication and provide leadership.  
  • Review, approve, and submit staff time cards to payroll department per schedule.  
  • Responsible for shifts and department coverage that can vary depending on the lack of coverage needs.
  • Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.  
  • Develop relationships with internal/external members to secure and support branch financial development success.
