POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Aquatics Director is responsible on a daily basis for creating a welcoming Y experience for all. The Aquatics Director must be able to lead and manage people to provide excellent member service, high-quality programming and clean, safe spaces. This position will require some time lifeguarding, teaching and leading classes as well as administrative duties.
1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
2. Two years related experience preferred, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
3. Completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens prior to first day.
4. Certified Pool Operator within 90 days of hire.
5. Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications

6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new programs and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
3. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
4. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
5. Provides monthly in-service trainings to all aquatic personnel.
6. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen trainings.

7. Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes.
8. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
9. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
10. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
11. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to
all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
12. Actively participates in program committee meetings.
13. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in program.
14. Assists the development department with information for grants and grant reports.
