The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for our In-Community Program to work in the community in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to assist children, youth and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges.

The Department of Mental Health Services is committed to filling the critical need to provide quality, equitable mental and behavioral health and social support services for individuals of all ages. 

Under the supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services and Mental Health Program Director, the Mental Health Clinician will conduct youth and family intakes, assessments, create and implement treatment and behavioral plans and weekly youth and family sessions as needed. 

The role of the Mental Health Clinician is to work in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to assist children, youth and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges. The Mental Health Clinician will engage with youth and families therapeutically to address a range of youth and family difficulties impacting mental health and well-being including emotional regulation, self-esteem, socialization, communication, interpersonal skills and family relationships.

The Mental Health Clinician will be passionate about work with children and families and demonstrate an ability to utilize evidenced, strengths-based, person-center approaches and work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary wrap-around team.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage & Support: Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide therapeutic support to youth and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Utilize Expertise: Apply evidence-based therapeutic practices to address mental health, emotional regulation, self-esteem, socialization, and more.
  • Conduct & Implement: Carry out intakes and assessments, and develop and implement personalized treatment and behavioral plans.

Position Details:

  • Part-Time: Minimum of 10 face-to-face client hours per week.
  • Nonexempt: Flexible schedule within a supportive and collaborative environment.

SIGN-ON BONUS - $450-750 (based on license and experience and meeting incentive milestones)

Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children and families. 
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
  • Active NJ State Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or Marriage & Family License. (LAC, LPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, PhD).
  • Current driver’s license, auto insurance with excellent driving record.
  • Obtain and successfully pass state and federal criminal background check via fingerprinting.
  • Utilization of Electronic Health Record System.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based modalities for therapy and treatment. 
  • Reliable and punctual with ability to complete independent tasks while being part of the collaborative team and effort. 
  • Language Skills - Spanish and English bilingual a plus. Excellent written and verbal/nonverbal abilities in languages. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, consumers, and the general public.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Exemplary cultural competence. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining working relationships, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Familiar with the culture and mission of the organization 

 

Essential Functions
  • Travel and provide in-home and in-community evidenced based clinical counseling services for clients of Raritan Bay Area YMCA.
  • Utilize electronic health record to create and maintain accurate client records including intake, progress, treatment, discharge and other forms or documents required by the YMCA and partnering organizations. 
  • Create and submit required documentation in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to time sheets, progress notes, treatment plan, etc. 
  • Utilize a wrap-around approach to work with the child, family and team to identify goals and assist the team towards goal achievement. 
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with client and family wrap-around team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, care manager etc.) and respond to client, family and stakeholder’ requests/communications in a timely manner. 
  • Work effectively both independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in team meetings and supervision as required based on licensure level and YMCA Protocol.
  • Available to conduct a minimum of 10 face-to-face client hours per week as available.
