Job Description

Under the direction of the CPCO and in line with the YMCA's Christian mission, the VP, Christian Mission & Inclusion will collaborate with senior leadership, center and camp leaders, committees, resource groups, and partners to create, plan, and implement faith-based, equitable, inclusive, and outreach initiatives. The VP will develop and implement a strategy to integrate equity and inclusion into all YMCA functions, provide strategy, guidance, support, resources, and tools to Y centers and camps, and promote the YMCA Christian mission throughout the greater Charlotte area.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 5 years experience working with volunteers and/or groups of people
  • Minimum of 10 years leadership experience as a spiritual leader
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience leading teams in the diversity, equity, & inclusion space
  • An ecumenical understanding of Christian faith
  • Possess good listening skills
  • Understanding of multi-unit operations
  • Experience handling diverse responsibilities resourcefully and multi-task effectively
  • Strong skill set to influence others without authority
  • Independent, self-directed, proactive, team player
  • Excellent verbal, written, relationship, and presentation skills 

All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. 

Preferreed Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Theology or related field
  • Master's degree
  • Bilingual 

*Salary commensurate with experience

Essential Functions

•    Develop and implement strategies to provide Christ-like care for team members, volunteers, donors, members, and the community.
•    Create and execute comprehensive Christian mission and inclusion strategies to transform organizational systems and achieve    goals.
•    Ensure YMCA facilities, programs, and membership reflect core values and foster a sense of belonging.
•    Provide strategic guidance and leadership to volunteer and center committees.
•    Oversee major events, including the Christian Leadership Conference and Community Prayer Breakfast.
•    Develop chaplaincy programs at each center in collaboration with partners.
•    Convene and lead conversations to build empathy and understanding of diverse experiences.
•    Support and standardize Christian mission and inclusion efforts, and church partnerships.
•    Build and cultivate strategic community and faith-based partnerships to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
•    Provide strategic direction to Diversity, Inclusion and Global initiatives.
•    Create and align new Christian mission and inclusion initiatives with existing ones, using outside expertise as needed.
•    Manage departmental budget.
