The Site Director has the responsibility of ensuring effective and efficient operation of one or two childcare sites. The Site Director is responsible for managing and facilitating Before & Afterschool Enrichment and/or Early Learning programs at a designated YMCA program sites. This responsibility includes creating and implementing lesson plans, maintaining site records, and additional programs responsibilities to ensure state licensure compliance and overall effective program management. This position is expected to be actively in childcare program up to 50% of the time.
• Must have education and/or certification to meet OCCRRA requirements for CPL 3
(OCCRRA)
• Certification in CPR at the level of Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer,
Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration and associated-determined safety training required within 30 days of hire.
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years working in a SCHOOL AGE/PRESCHOOL child care setting.
• Minimum 1-year experience supervising and managing staff.
• Previous experience WORKING with diverse populations preferred.
• Minimum 1-year experience working with Microsoft office products.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with all ODJFS licensing procedures and Step Up to Quality requirements preferred.
• Named on the license & ensures all licensing requirements are followed and site is maintained in accordance with ODJFS day care licensing standards.
• Direct supervision of Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers within assigned site locations.
• Reviews and appraises the effectiveness of directly supervised personnel and makes appropriate training recommendations or staff changes where necessary.
• Designs and implements learning opportunities that include goals and objectives. Incorporates activities promoting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development into all curricular areas.
• Considers assessment and screening information when making curriculum and program decisions for individuals and/or groups. Uses age-appropriate guidance strategies.
• Partners with others to develop and implement individualized guidance strategies.
• Creates an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for all children, youth, and families.
• Represent YMCA by developing positive working relationships with program participants, parents, and local community groups and/or organizations.
• Shares information with families about the relationship among learning activities, environment, and child development.
• Communicates and follows emergency preparedness plans. Ensure daily cleaning and maintenance of space/facility.
• Ensures adherence to health and safety regulations and policies, responsible for
administering First Aid to children/staff if required. Notify supervisor of any parent concerns or unsafe conditions at center, as well as foster ongoing communication with supervisor regarding center operations.
• Participates in strategic planning and goal setting for program improvement.
• Implements strategies to promote the value of the program in the community.
• Develops and maintain a file system that will include all policies, school year schedules, ODJFS child day care rules, child enrollment information and staff files.
• Ensure site location has supplies, working with District, Coordinators to order essential supplies, i.e. . First Aid, blood borne pathogen protective equipment, snack, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
