Located on nearly 1400 forested acres in the Town of Becket, nestled within the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA camp which operates programs serving hundreds of campers. Boasting over a century of tradition, our industry leading programs include the Chimney Corners Camp for girls, Camp Becket for boys, the Travel & Service Programs (domestic and international), and Becket Day Camp.

About the Job:

  • Full time position, 40 hours/week and occasionally more as determined based on organizational need.
  • Position works on-site for a minimum of 5 days per week

Qualifications
  •  Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance and custodial services, or a related field.
  • Ability and desire to actively participate and complete work orders in the field as necessary
  • Ability to work outside and be physically active. 
  • Current driver’s license with clean driving record and have reliable ability to travel to and from work.
  • Must pass background clearances and provide proof of recent medical physical & immunization records as required by MA regulations
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed from September to May.  Must be willing to commit to the business needs of our operating season from June through August—including a few required weekends. 
  • Be able to participate in the on-call response schedule rotation for the Maintenance Department.   
Essential Functions
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in various areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical work, etc. Report repairs requiring a licensed technician to your supervisor.
  • Clean and maintain common areas, including restrooms, dining halls, and lodging. 
  • Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and floor care tasks. 
  • Maintain grounds by performing duties such as mowing, weed trimming, shoveling snow, operating plows and tractors, and using a chainsaw.
  • Maintain a positive and customer service oriented attitude, contributing year-round to the success of a seasonally focused operation.
  • Reporting to the Custodial and Maintenance Supervisor, works closely in collaboration with the team to ensure the property and facilities are of the safest and highest quality in support of the mission of BCCYMCA.
