The YMCA of Metro North has a long history of providing many communities throughout the Northern suburbs of Boston with outstanding programs and services for youth, adults and families. Serving the communities of Lynn, Peabody, Saugus, Melrose, Nahant, Revere, Lynnfield and Stoneham, the YMCA of Metro North seeks an experienced YMCA Executive Director that will lead our Lynn Massachusetts YMCA into the next phase of growth and prominence, to meet the cause and mission of the YMCA.
This person will lead the YMCA efforts to create changemakers who will make Lynn the community of choice for everyone!
About the City of Lynn:
Lynn is the 9th largest municipality in Massachusetts and the largest city in Essex County. Situated on the Atlantic Ocean, 3.7 miles (6.0 km) north of the Boston city line at Suffolk Downs, Lynn is part of Greater Boston's urban inner core. Today, the city is known for its contemporary public art, international population, historic architecture, downtown cultural district, loft-style apartments, and public parks and open spaces, which include the oceanfront Lynn Shore Reservation; the 2,200-acre, Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Lynn Woods Reservation; and the High Rock Tower Reservation. Lynn also is home to Lynn Heritage State Park, the southernmost portion of the Essex Coastal Scenic Byway, and the seaside, National Register-listed Diamond Historic District.
The City boasts a robust population of over 85,000 people with a rich mix of cultural and ethnic diversity. The city of Lynn is 39% Caucasian, 38% Hispanic-Latino, 11% African-American and 8% Asian and 4% multi-racial.
About the Lynn YMCA:
Currently, the Lynn Y hosts a membership of 10,000 members with over 1,500 children enrolled in healthy living, aquatics, youth programs and Y Academy annually. The Demakes YMCA opened in 2021 after a $30m construction project. The Lynn Y building has been open since 1970.
Position General functions:
Under the direction and in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer, the Branch Executive Director is responsible for all branch outcomes including driving the membership, and program/membership services of the Branch, Y Academy STEAM advancement, the financial development strategy, business operations, facility management, human resources, and employee development, all in accordance with the policies, by-laws and constitution of the YMCA of Metro North. This position reports to and is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer.
Fundraising and community partnerships are primary goals of this role.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
¨ Ten – fifteen years of management and leadership in a high-volume customer forward organization.
¨ A proven track record of exemplary operations results.
¨ Bilingual skills and a great understanding of an urban non-profit setting is preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:
¨ Superior Communication skills- both written and verbal.
¨ Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA (or willingness to learn it), volunteers and staff in the accomplishments of the YMCA goals, objectives and mission in the community.
¨ Possess a concern for detail and accuracy and can delegate responsibility.
¨ Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development and our mission.
¨ Proven track record of identifying, cultivating and growing partnerships and collaborations.

Outcomes and position expectations:
¨ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
¨ The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
¨ Must have a strong ability to multitask.
¨ Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours required periodically.
¨ The branch is open to 120 hours per week. A flexible work schedule may be necessary. Represent the Y at events on night and weekends can be a regular occurrence.
¨ There is no ability to work remotely on a regular basis. Only occasional circumstances may warrant it.
¨ Travel between branches is necessary at times.
