Plan, organize, evaluate, and facilitate summer camp and conference programs according to YMCA and ACA standards.
Recruit, interview, hire, train, lead, supervise, and evaluate summer camp and conference staff.
Ensure that all camp & conference programs are fun, challenging, and safe for all campers.
Assist as needed in all areas of camp, facilities, outdoor ed, food service, etc.
Organize summer programs, day camp trail group & overnight camp cabin activity schedules (collaboration with Overnight Camp Director and other Seasonal Leadership Staff)
Organize all conference, parent/child, family camp, & children’s weekend schedules
Oversee all theme programs
Oversee the YMCA Raggers program
Oversee all evening programs
Evaluate camp program and provide input to senior leadership team
Coordinate camp and conference staff schedules
Coordinate program sign ups for overnight campers
Development of new year-round programs
Supervise all summer camp counselors, summer senior staff and conference staff in all aspects of their job
Supervise all participants within designated programs
Assist summer senior staff in helping counselors in designing cabin activities
Report all policy concerns and violations to the Sr. Director
Attend all required staff meetings
Participate in all senior staff/scheduled responsibilities
Abide by mandatory reporting policy, as described in the staff manual
Supervise program specialists in all aspects of their jobs
Assist with general office tasks like answering phones and responding to emails in a timely manner
Assist with creation of department budget
Oversee program specific budget revenue and expense lines
Market programs to returning and new participants
Maintain Red Cross Lifeguard Cert and Red Cross Instructor Certification
Organize and facilitate staff training for leadership staff, counselors, specialists, and conference staff
Interpret safety and health rules, as well as other camp policies to campers, program participants, and staff
Maintain camper and staff discipline as necessary, in an appropriate manner, within GWVA YMCA guidelines to achieve YMCA Camp Kresge’s objectives
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Directors

On-site, lakeside housing provided (private room & bath, shared kitchen & living area with one other director). Meals provided when the kitchen is in service (May through August, various weekends).
Minimum 21 years of age
3 years minimum Summer Camp experience or equivalent experience working with children
Supervisory experience, preferably in a camp setting
Ability to communicate well and provide quality leadership
Provide leadership and innovative ideas to create continued growth in the day camp, overnight camp, and off-season programs.
First aid/CPR Certification
Lifeguard Instructor Certification
