Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Child Care Program Director at the Marshfield Area YMCA oversees the development and operations of the overall child care program, ensuring the program meets intended goals.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience as a lead teacher or director in a licensed child care center.

Must have one of the following training requirements completed prior to beginning work as a center program director:

  • Four non-credit department approved courses in early childhood or its equivalent and within 3 years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
  • Four courses for credit in early childhood education from an institution of higher education and within 3 years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
  • An associate degree in early childhood education or child care from an institution of higher education. 
    • A bachelor degree in early childhood education from an institute of higher education or a license from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to act as a kindergarten or early childhood teacher. A teaching license from another state is acceptable.
    • A certificate from The Registry indicating a Registry Level 14 or above.
Essential Functions
  • Manages, directs and coordinates the child care program.  Ensures high quality programs as a whole to guarantee adherence to Y policies and DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
  • Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, parents, and caregivers, and community organizations (e.g., state child care licensing agency, school administration) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Maintenance of child care center records.
  • Administer monthly staff meetings
  • Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Site Director.

Required Certifications
