Wellness Director

The YMCA Buffalo Niagara is pursuing an experienced wellness professional to direct and manage health and wellness programs.
Job Description

Directs and manages the wellness center and wellness programs. Develops the group exercise operating schedule and supervises the staff team.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  2. Minimum of two years of related experience in a supervisory capacity.
  3. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA certification.
  4. Ability to facilitate a variety of group exercise classes to members.
  5. CPR/AED certification.
  6. Ability to direct assigned operations including supervision and development of staff and volunteers.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  9. Ability to use good judgement and solve complex problems.
  10. Experience working with diverse populations.
Essential Functions
  1. Manages wellness center operations and wellness program, including Active Older Adults. Ensures high quality experiences for members, establishes new program activities, and ensures program enrollment targets are met/exceeded.
  2. Develops and implements a well-balanced program menu and operating schedule that encourages membership.  
  3. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
  4. Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
  5. Follows and enforces safety procedures. Monitors daily operations to comply with all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Monitors and enforces department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces and ensures PPE compliance.
  6. Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  7. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of programs. Responds to feedback to improve the member experience.
  8. Responsible for the cleanliness of program areas, provides adequate program supplies, and provides for the upkeep of equipment.
  9. Implements the marketing plan and coordinates distribution of program information.
  10. Serves as a member of the YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
