Job Description

This position supports the Gaston County Family YMCA’s marketing department. Under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Director, the Marketing and Design Coordinator will assist in creating and managing all communications supporting the Gaston County Family YMCA. This position will help develop content for the organization’s website, digital media, print materials, social media, email communications and facility signage. 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous professional experience in marketing, graphic design and/or communications required
  • Demonstrated experience with standard creative software such as Canva and Adobe suite 
  • Proven experience with email management platforms and website management systems 
  • Proven experience with Drupal content management systems and applied HTML knowledge
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
  • Demonstrated experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Optimization (SMO), with a proven ability to enhance online visibility and engagement.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools, CRM systems, and other relevant marketing technologies.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing many marketing projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Essential Functions
  • Works with Marketing and Communications Director to develop and implement effective marketing and communication strategies to enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace. 
  • Develops print and digital content in compliance with the organization’s marketing plan and branding guidelines.
  • Assists with the creation of graphics and design layouts for promotional materials, website, social media and email communications.
  • Serves as an additional contact for staff in regard to promotional materials, website, social media, content creating, app updates, copywriting, and email communications.
  • Maintains the YMCA’s website, ensuring content is up to date.
  • Provides and maintains related statistics and reports regarding marketing efforts.
  • Ability to understand market trends and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions on social media and content
  • Communicates with branch liaisons as directed by the Marketing and Communications Director
  • Understanding of brand guidelines and the ability to ensure consistency in messaging and visuals across marketing materials.
  • Ability to analyze marketing data and metrics to inform decision-making and optimize campaigns.
  • Assist Marketing and Communications Director with other duties as assigned
