Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Membership/Marketing Director is responsible for the overall supervision and leadership of the Membership Department including membership growth and retention, enforcing association policies and procedures, and ensuring successful membership campaigns. The Membership/Marketing Director will also supervise the Operations Assistant, the Membership Services Coordinators who manage the Membership Services part-time staff at the Main Facility and Lee County Branch, and the KidZone staff. Directs and manages marketing and communication efforts, and coordinates with COO for the recruitment and placement of volunteers. Develops, plans and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals. Coordinates with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the administration of financial development and grant application efforts.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Supervisory and customer service experience.Marketing and Communication experience.
Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Internet, and computer-based transaction and database software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and ability to make public presentations and handle media inquiries.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Membership Job Segments:
Implement and manage membership strategies that support new members and retention and engagement of existing members.
Create a member-focused culture and model relationship-building skills in all interactions while fostering a climate of innovation and problem solving to ensure a positive member experience.
Develop, adopt and effectively administer annual department budget.
Manage, train, and supervise Operations Assistant, Member Services Coordinator(s), and assist in the supervision and training of member services staff.
Provide overall management KidZone program, train, and supervise KidZone staff and volunteers, adhering to all safety guidelines, facilitate all procurement and maintenance of equipment and facilities related to the KidZone program, and coordinate accordingly with other directors.
Provide training, incentives, correction, evaluation, feedback, recognition and rewards as needed to enhance employee satisfaction and the customer service experience.
Participate in weekly staff meetings.
Serve as staff liaison for Membership and Marketing Committee. Coordinate with COO to create agenda and reports for monthly Membership and Marketing Committee meetings.
Effectively coordinate with COO and other operational departments (Aquatics, Sports, Childcare, Health and Wellness) in order to assure that Member Services professionally and diligently represents all respective programs in terms of providing information, registration, documentation and payment.
Attend and participate in all Membership and Marketing Committee, Program Committee, and Board Volunteer Meetings.
Manage department budget and coordinate closely with COO and CEO on annual budget development, administration, and execution.
Marketing Job Segments:

Develop and implement annual marketing plan and calendar.
Develop, produce, and distribute, program, membership, and event information to target audiences.

Conduct marketing research, as needed, by the association.
In close coordination with CEO and COO, develop, nurture and maintain positive collaborative relationships with area schools, churches, civic groups, local government entities, community organizations and other non-profits.
Assist CEO in implementing and executing the following programs related to Association financial development:
Annual Giving
Capital Campaigns
Planned Giving
Grant identification and proposal writing
Special Events / Sponsorship Solicitations
Work with CEO on all Board Development activities.
Coordinate with CEO on the solicitation of sponsorship for all Association programs and activities.
Mission Advancement: Models and teaches the YMCA values. Ensures a high level of service with a commitment to changing lives. Provides staff and volunteers with orientation, training, development, and recognition. Cultivates relationships to support fundraising.
Collaboration: Champions inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives. Builds relationships to create small communities. Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. Effectively tailors communications to the appropriate audience. Provides staff with feedback, coaching, guidance, and support.

Develops plans and manages best practices through engagement of team. Effectively creates and manages budgets. Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress.
