At the Y, we’re an association of like-minded people (staff, volunteers, and members), on the forefront of a movement to ensure that everyone -- especially children -- experience an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Director of Development Foundations to advance the YMCA’s vision and mission and manage a robust and sustainable funding portfolio with a focus on support from foundation donors. Under the direction of the Vice President of Institutional and Public Funding, the Director of Development, Foundations, will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward five to seven figure support from new prospects and existing donors.

Qualifications
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, Non-Profit Management or other related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a fund-raising setting within a complex organization.
  • Successful track record researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation officers to meet organizational fundraising objectives.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills including written, oral, and listening.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to work effectively in fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Relevant experience with data management and experience with CRMs such as Salesforce and/or Raisers Edge.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Passion for and commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Employment Requirement: 

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
Essential Functions
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Institutional and Public Funding to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive and strategic foundation fundraising plan to advance the Y2025 strategic plan and that effectively applies industry best practices and data-driven analysis.
  • Build and cultivate a diverse portfolio 25+ five to seven figure prospects and donors. Utilize centralized donor management systems to record communications, visits, solicitation plans, and pipeline updates.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify new foundation prospects and expand giving opportunities for existing foundation supporters.
  • Present monthly portfolio review to leadership highlighting prospect and donor interactions, review of newly qualified prospects and cultivation plans, stage aging metrics, funds raised, pending asks and gap plans as needed.
  • Partner closely with the Grants Manager to ensure on track spending and delivery of grant activities and outcomes. 
  • Partner closely with the Director of Donor Relations to develop strategic, compelling grant proposals, application, and reports.
  • Build strong working relationships with other YMCA departments and branches to collaboratively shape grant related programmatic goals, activities, and budgets in alignment with the Y2025 strategic plan and that facilitate positive long-term relationships with donors.
  • Maintain a high-quality, high-touch stewardship process for donors to ensure appreciation and recognition and to bring the impact of the Y’s mission to life through first-hand experiences, events, site visits, and timely delivery of compelling reports and evaluations.
