Job Description

The YMCA Alexandria is currently seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Assistant Early Learning Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun, and positive environment daily!

The Assistant Early Learning Director works with the Early Learning Director on the overall operation of the Early Learning program site(s), including licensing, curriculum development and delivery, and health and safety of the children.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills: We seek a leader with values that align with the Y’s mission:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Recreation, Human Services.

Minimum of 3 years experience working primarily with preschoolers or school age children (depending on program) in a licensed child care center.

Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills including supervision, program development and  working with children and parents

Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents and committed to working with diverse population.

Essential Functions

Some of the exciting things you will do as the Assistant Early Learning Director:

Responsible for creating, developing and maintaing a positive relationship with teachers, parents, and branch staff.

Stays current with all licensing, state and local regulations and ensures that the site and all of its staff are in compliance at all times.

Provides training and orientation for new parents, teachers and children including touring families and transitioning children.

Assist with hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating early learning staff.

Ensuring daily, weekly, monthly communication to parents to support the lesson plans and the milestones and development of the children within the program.
