Job Description
Somerset Hills YMCA is seeking a Lead Teacher in our Toddler classroom to execute a structured, engaging, and positive school day curriculum. Applicants should share in our commitment to nurture and support our children, promote youth development, and foster a sense of social responsibility.
Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Bachelor's Degree in Education, Teaching Certificate, or a combination of experience and formal education.
- Relevant child care experience ideally with infants, toddlers, or pre-school aged children.
- Positive and clear communication skills specifically in speaking with parents.
- Classroom management skills are needed. Must have the ability to plan and implement curriculum and manage the flow of the day.
- Must be independent and self-sustaining. This classroom is yours to run as you see fit.
Essential Functions
The Lead Teacher reports to the Director of Child Care and is responsible for daily classroom routines and a curriculum that prepares students to rise into our pre-school program. Elementary school readiness is our goal for each child in this program and the Lead Teacher will ensure that necessary skills are taught and learned. Child Care Staff should be prepared to learn and execute all health and safety standards as mandated by the NJ Department of Children and Families.
