Association Director of Finance

Job Description

Track and report project and Association spending, compared to budget and other baselines. Assist in the RFP processes, analyze bids, and provide recommendations and insights (for example, comparative analysis). Provide financial planning and analysis support for the Association’s service lines of business (LOB). Assist Project Managers with developing and tracking individual capital project budgets, including contract values, change.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS Degree required and or combination of education and work experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of finance experience
  • Experience in preparing multiple interrelated budgets and projections using electronic spreadsheets
  • Supervisory experience including hiring, training, and developing accounting staff
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, and project management
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Mastery in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and staff
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Visual ability to read and analyze budgets, contracts, and grants.
  • Ability to travel throughout San Diego County
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute
Essential Functions
  • Facilitate Association-wide budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.
  • Provide financial management support including, budgeting and forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, and investment analysis
  • Reduce expenditures through expense controls measures and leveraging the Association’s purchasing power
  • Provide analysis and insight on Association operations (through KPIs and other performance measures)
  • Conduct lease vs. buy analysis
  • Review capital invoices and assign proper account classification
  • Assist in the RFP processes, analyze bids, and provide recommendations and insights (for example, comparative analysis)
  • Provide financial planning and analysis support for the Association’s service lines of business (LOB)
  • Assist Project Managers with developing and tracking individual capital project budgets, including contract values, change orders, invoice tracking, and forecasts
  • Track and report project and Association spending, compared to budget and other baselines
  • Prepare monthly capital spend forecast and related presentations
  • Other duties as assigned by the CFO
