Job Description

The Program Director - Sports oversees and provides leadership to the Youth & Adult Sports Program. The Sports Program Director is responsible for the development, administration, implementation and ongoing evaluation of all related programs. The YMCA of San Diego County is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action Employer Minority/Female/Disability/Vets. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience in youth program development and curriculum
  • YMCA experience preferred
  • Two years’ supervisory experience preferred 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general office equipment 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and a passion for reaching out to all levels of society to further the mission and goals of the YMCA
  • CPR/AED and First Aid, must include both Adult & Infant/Child, certified upon hire and must be from one of the following:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of assigned Camp departments/programs; ensuring growth, volume, safety and innovation
  • Implements regular site visits for observation and evaluation
  • Develops and prepares department budget for assigned programs
  • Expands programming within the community in accordance with operating plans
  • Assists in marketing and distribution of upcoming programs
  • Provide timely and consistent communication to staff, volunteers, and members
  • Responsible for camp hiring, selection, evaluation, training, and coaching of staff
  • Ensure all YMCA policies & procedures, state licensing, American Camp Accreditation (ACA) requirements, and health department requirements are adhered to at all times to provide the highest level of safety for all program participants and staff
  • Provide excellent customer service to members and staff team
  • Actively involved in all branch fundraising events and activities
  • Ability to work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA 4 core values
