Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Y Community Finance Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, the Community Finance Manager is responsible for providing primary leadership, management and direction to daily Branch  financial duties, which includes: daily cash reports, deposits, journals, adhering to Metro guidelines and providing leadership to the Finance Office staff.  This position is also responsible for the operation and overall management of the Finance Department as it relates to purchasing, accounts payable, monthly financial reports, collections and program registration duties. 

Qualifications
  • Four-year college degree;
  • Preferred at least 5 years’ experience in finance or accounting capacity;
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Current ability or ability to learn YMCA of Greater Charlotte software applications (Personify, Great Plains, TROY);
  • Ability to balance and handle many functions and projects at one time; 
  • A strong fiscal aptitude and organizational skills with the ability to handle confidential information;
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills with an ability to communicate with people at all levels;
  • Initiative in both independent and discretionary judgment;
  • Ability to design and implement systems for effective process and registration management within areas of responsibility;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all YMCA of Greater Charlotte trainings and certifications.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  • Extended periods of time spent working at a computer for data entry.
  • Ability to work fluctuating schedule with irregular work hours.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
Essential Functions
  • Guide the annual budget process for each branch by providing data and reports, and also assisting with data entry;
  • Manage all revenue and expenses by managing the consistent policies and procedures.
  • Provides monthly financial reports to be shared with department directors;
  • Works with the Sr. Y Community Finance Director to ensure compliance with Metro guidelines and procedures;
  • Develop and communicate necessary financial reports including daily cash, monthly program registration and revenue reports, budget variances, and trend analysis.
  • Provides data and information necessary for branch financial projections;
  • Responsible for review of monthly financial statements and processing any corrections as well as providing analysis of account activities;
  • Responsible for supporting all functions of the Finance Office for the Harris, Harris Express and Keith: day-end balancing, daily bank deposits, monthly invoices, daily management of funds, management of program drafts, billing, management of program refunds and  returned checks and drafts;
  • Process and track contract labor forms;
  • Responsible for petty cash for programs/reports;
  • Act as staff liaison to Metro’s Finance Department and Finance committee, as well as other committees as assigned. 
  • Independently make decisions regarding Business Office procedures;
  • Supervise and manage the work of all full-time and part-time direct reports;
  • Assist with the program registration processes including account receivables, delinquent accounts, pending accounts, cancellations, wait lists and camp updates during camp season;
  • Responsible for the operation and overall management of program registration to ensure processing of all program registration information, set-ups, payments, balance listings and collections;
  • Responsible for coordinating and processing all accounts payables;
  • Maintain effective working relationship with all Program Directors and all Membership departments;
  • Responsible for all additional tasks as assigned by the Sr. Y Community Finance Director.
