Position Summary:
As an Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Alabaster YMCA branch towards fulfilling its mission and strategic goals. Your responsibilities encompass directing branch operations, implementing policies and programs, and fostering a culture of innovation. This senior management position requires someone who is adaptable to change, possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills, thinks strategically and creatively, and excels in problem-solving. Collaboration and teamwork are essential attributes, and you must have a deep understanding of the community's complexities, emphasizing collaboration and partnership with public and private resources. Your role will also involve building and nurturing relationships with community leaders and organizations to enhance our community impact. The ideal candidate should have three years or more of experience at the Associate Director level or higher within the YMCA, or relevant experience in a management role with operational responsibility and direct supervision of staff at multiple levels.
Desire and capacity to achieve positive results in the area of financial development, board & volunteer development, program development and administration, staff supervision, and fiscal management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, self-starter with initiative to work independently.
Must have the capacity to develop strong, positive relationships with branch volunteers, business and civic leaders, and give dynamic leadership to board, staff and community.
Proven record of leading and aligning teams to a clearly articulated vision, mission, and strategic plan, which advance a cohesive, positive, and productive culture.
Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems.
Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, member engagement, and the YMCA character values.
Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
Professional demeanor and proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff and volunteers, as well as developing an effective staff team.
The candidate is asked to reside in the Alabaster community.

Must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Maintain a diverse branch board that actively supports the Y’s goals and strategic plans. Recruits, selects, and develops diverse volunteers for the branch board. Clarifies and reinforces the division of roles and responsibilities between corporate boards, branch boards, staff, and general volunteers
Build bridges within the Alabaster community so that all segments of society have access to the Y
Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities
Manage the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets
Develop and direct high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support the Alabaster Branch and association goals and strategies. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team
Direct the financial development activities including direct asks, grant writing and special events
Oversee risk management strategies and preventative practices. Ensures regulatory compliance
Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan
Oversee the hiring, training, development, and supervision of staff
Foster a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs that support the Y mission, goals, and strategies
Address Specific Problem Areas: Identify and correct areas in which the branch is under-performing and organize task forces to address these issues
Serve on community and association committees, tasks forces, and boards to foster internal and external relationships
Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment
