Job Description

Tremendous opportunity for the right individual! Our Boroughs Family Branch YMCA is looking for a Facilities Director to help us provide a beautiful and safe environment to our members, staff, and community. 

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. 

The Facilities Director position directs the maintenance and custodial operations of the Boroughs Family Branch YMCA-including preventative maintenance and vehicles. Under their responsibilities, the Facilities Director is an on call twenty-four hours, seven day a week position. 

The Director must be available for all contingencies or always ensure appropriate emergency coverage of the facility. 

Schedule: Typical schedule is Monday - Friday with some nights, weekends and mornings based on facility needs.

Pay: $50,000-$55,000/year Salary Exempt with full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities for immediate family members, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, EAP, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in facility management or a minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical repairs and custodial procedures
  • Three or more years’ experience in facility management or closely related field
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas
  • Skills in supervision, budget management and project management
  • CPO certification within 120 days of employment
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED, training within 30 days of employment
  • Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Essential Functions
  1. Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance plans and the coordination of contracted custodial services.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs assigned staff. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship building skills in all interactions.
  3. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and on the YMCA grounds.
  4. Assume primary responsibility for the efficient operation of the pools. Ensure the highest safety and health standards in the administering and control of pool chemicals and filter operations. Maintain a current Certified Pool Operator certification.
  5. Perform night and weekend hours as needed or directed by Branch Director
  6. Works collaboratively on maintenance projects with other branches in the Association as needed.
  7. Works with outside agencies such as fire, city health and building departments to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to facility operations.
  8. Inspects all facilities under his/her responsibilities weekly and submit recommendations for planning and prioritizing of facility work to the direct supervisor.
  9. Assumes primary responsibility in achieving branch budgets and ensure prudent expenditures and cost control procedures in accordance with branch procedures and policies.
  10. Always Ensures the highest standard of safety for themselves and their staff. Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industrial safety guidelines and procedures.
  11. Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with YMCA, local and state policies and regulations.
  12. Ensure the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facility grounds, including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal and ice control.
  13. Maintains adequate inventory of housekeeping cleaning supplies and replacement parts for equipment that may be required by the Branch
  14. Provide support of the Association’s charitable giving, including the Annual Campaign and special events resulting in achievement of the Association and Branch philanthropic goals.
  15. Provide support to the Diversity and Inclusion Global Network in order to achieve Association goals, mission, and vision.
  16. Participates in Branch staff meetings and other Branch and Association meetings are required.
  17. Other duties as assigned.
