This position is responsible for the supervision and administration of all aquatic programs for the Semones YMCA. This will include, but not limited to: swim lessons, swim team (youth and masters), aquatic certification classes, and lap/recreational swim, pool rentals. The Semones Family Y has three on site pools, a Sprayground, and tmawo whirlpools. In addition, the Aquatic Program Director plans and administers approved budgets, staffs the preceding programs, assists with the annual Scholarship Campaign, and maintains the pool equipment. Directs and manages all of the aquatic programs, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures. Develops programs and ensures program quality. Hires, trains and supervises staff and volunteers for all aquatic programs. Develops, manages, and monitors aquatic department budgets. Assesses and recommends budgeting for facility and equipment needs. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, and other volunteer committees as assigned. Develops, produces and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote aquatic programs to the public and to current members. Ensures that program areas,\equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
Bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation or equivalent experience. Three or more years of progressive supervisory experience in an aquatic program, including program development and budget management. Ability to train swim instructors, swim coaches, instructors and lifeguards. Excellent skills in communication, customer service, and organizational management. Requires certification in YMCA Swim Lessons V6, YMCA Lifeguard, YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, CPO and ASHI BLS (or ability to complete all required training within the first 60 days of employment): Perfered Trainer Level Certified in YMCA Swim Lessons V6. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
