The Opportunity

For 146 years the Clifton Springs Area YMCA has been a hub of our rural community. As such we are looking for a leader and manager who can grow the organizational capacity through teamwork and deligation. Our ideal candidate is able to quickly build relationships in the community to facilitate inter-organization collaboration.

The Executive Director must be able to work with the Board of Directors to establish goals and objectives for the Y and the community. The Executive Director is our ambassador in the community. As the face of the Y in the region this role requires the ability to build collaborative alliances and cast a vision for members and staff alike.

We have just completed a $1.5M renovation of our facilities creating new workout facilities and a community center space; while also catching up on defered maintenance. This project was done in cooperation with local philanthropies, corporations, and New York state programs.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or any combination of education, experience, and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of this position.

  • Three or more years of management experience in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

  • Ability to direct assigned operations, including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing, and program development.

  • A proven track record of growing membership and program enrollment and solid fiscal management.

  • Thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers, and staff in the accomplishment of the YMCA goals, objectives, and mission in the community.

Essential Functions
Program Development
  • Grow current programs

  • Look for new program oportunities

  • Evaluate market conditions for program development

Network Management
  • Develop and maintain donor relationships

  • Connect with agencies in the community at large

  • Develop relationships with community leaders

Fiscal Management
  • Manage a $500k annual budget

  • Evaluate fiscal performance of programs

  • Aquire grants

Marketing & Public Relations
  • Develop a marketing vision

  • Create and manage marketing KPIs

Management and Leadership
  • Grow organizational capacity through delegation

  • Empower staff to lead their departments to achieve financial milestones

  • Working with department leaders, develop a stewarship strategy for all YMCA resources

  • Cast the vision and mission of the Y

  • Be an ambassador for the Y

  • Hire and retain great people

Board of Directors Interaction
  • Attend board meetings

  • Deliver the following the week prior to the board meeting:

    • Directors Report to the board secretary (cc directors)

    • Financial information to treasurer (cc finance committee)

    • Operations Report including (as needed):

      • Facilities report

      • Staff report

      • Publich Relations report

      • Marketing report
