Job Description

The YMCA of the Palm Beaches is seeking a development professional to help execute fundraising initiatives including leadership gifts, annual philanthropy, fundraising events, and database management.

This position is full-time/salaried/exempt / 12 months and includes off business hours (occasional evenings/weekends) as events or meetings dictate. Full health / medical / retirement / paid vacation benefits are available.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:

•Bachelor's Degree

•3+ years of experience in fundraising/fund development, public relations, leadership in the nonprofit sector, or insales; combination of education and experience considered.

•Documented experience interfacing with multiple constituencies.

•Grant writing experience preferred.

•Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills. A comfort level with in-person and/or virtual engagement is required.

•Computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, and other Windows-based software; experience with fundraising-specific software preferred.

Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Philanthropy (not limited to the following):

•     Implement fundraising activities in coordination with the Director of Philanthropy, including 

annual giving campaigns, fundraising-related events, and strategic campaign initiative work. Some 

Campaign work will require partnership with outside campaign counsel.

•     Manage a portfolio of leadership prospective donors and donors to build and manage 

relationships, solicit support, and steward appropriately. Meet activity metrics on a monthly basis 

to grow the organization's donor pool and capacity, growing the organization's leadership giving 

society consistently. Record information from visits and support in the database accordingly.

•     Take primary responsibility, under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy, for special 

events to ensure all facets of such events are a success; help to manage relationships with and 

solicit support from local businesses and corporations, and foundations as applicable. Organize 

tracking systems for events to track revenue, guests, and necessary follow-up. Represent the 

organization at certain events and in the community at the request of either the Director of 

Philanthropy or CEO.

•     Maintain informational databases on individuals, families, foundations, and corporate donors, 

including details on movements from prospect portfolio. As such, help the Director to prepare donor 

and campaign-related reports for the CEO and Board. Generate reports regularly to update leadership 

and campaign counsel on the campaign initiative's progress, helping to prepare materials for 

monthly campaign strategy meetings.

•     Prepare and submit grant applications to foundations and corporations in alignment with 

strategic priorities and/or annual or campaign requests. Grant opportunities and applications shall 

be organized in a database by this role for execution by the development team based on opportunity 

alignment and support potential.

•     With the direction and leadership of the Director, work with Marketing and PR on production 

of all major development publications, focusing on relevant campaigns and leadership, top-tier 

relationships. Execute on written pieces related to development for Director approval.

•     Utilize email or other means of communication to inform constituents (board, donors, members, 

staff, etc.) and/or the general public of current development-related events, in collaboration with 

relevant staff. Execute on written pieces related to development communication for Director 

approval.
