Job Description

As the Associate Executive Director, you will work closely with the Executive Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Y branch. The Associate Executive Director leads program operations including but not limited to membership, healthy living, aquatics, youth development and properties/facilities. This position provides leadership to Y team members creates meaningful high quality experiences and ensures successful daily operations of the branch. Your leadership skills, strong organizational abilities, and commitment to the Y’s mission will be essential to the success of this role.

Qualifications
  • Accomplishments in staff development, fundraising, program planning and innovation, budget development and fiscal management
  • YMCA operations leadership strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization, preferably in the YMCA or a similar organization.
  • Strong knowledge of membership, youth development, health and wellness, and community outreach programs.
  • Proven track record of successful staff management and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Essential Functions
  • Work with Executive Director to develop, implement and manage operating plans that promote program and membership growth for the Y
  • Create a quality experience in all programs that will excite and delight all participants
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff members, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that align with the Y’s mission and meet the needs of the community.
  • Continuously evaluate the scope of programs to identify new opportunities to grow existing programs and create new programs that serve the needs of our members and program participants
  • Build a culture of high program quality and experience in all assigned areas
  • Create and embrace a diverse and inclusive Y community to increase our local impact
  • Lead direct reports to create a cause driven, interdependent, and unified team
  • Recruit, hire, train and supervise a highly-skilled and trained team of full-time and part-time cause driven leaders
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management, ensuring responsible fiscal practices and resource allocation.
  • Participate in fundraising activities and initiatives to support the Y’s financial sustainability.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure safety and maintenance of facilities, grounds and equipment for staff, members, and participants
  • Provide leadership to the Y fundraising initiatives
