Job Description

We are currently seeking a service excellence-oriented health & wellness leader with a proven track record of driving results to lead our YMCA’s Wellness Department Strategy & Operations.   The Association Director of Wellness oversees all Wellness and Group Exercise services programming and operations, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Member Services & Operations.

Qualifications
We seek a leader with values that align with the Y’s mission:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (i.e. Exercise Science, Kinesiology, etc.) is required. An advanced degree preferred. 
  • Current certification/accreditation in wellness services from a certifying organization recognized by the YMCA
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in overseeing both GEX strategy and operations and Wellness / Fitness Center strategy and operations.
  • Experience serving as a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise instructor is preferred. 
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience working with Community Health programs/services. 
  • Financial management experience required
  • Facility management and program delivery experience required
  • Leadership/Supervision/Staff development experience required
  • Ability to drive to various locations in the DMV area
Essential Functions
Some of the exciting things you will do as the Association Director of Wellness:
  • Serves as a resource to the YMCA branch Wellness Directors and GEX Coordinators to drive excellence in general wellness/GEX operations and programs/services to members and staff 
  • Drive annual innovation in the YMCA wellness and GEX program offering that is sustained, impactful and enhanced in future years.
  • Work in collaboration with the Vice President of Community Health to support the delivery of approved programs and services to serve special populations (at-risk/disease prevention; recovery/rehabilitation; special needs/abilities; underserved populations; and additional as approved) both in Y branches, Y program centers and at approved offsite locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a member-focused culture and model relationship building across the Association.
  • Leads the Association’s Wellness Service Team’s monthly meetings, subcommittee initiatives, and other key Association-wide work. 
  • Provide mentorship and development to the wellness team.

Required Certifications

The Association Director of Wellness is expected to make in-person visit to the various YMCA branches in the DMV area.
