The objective of the Family Director is to supervise and coordinate all aspects of family and child care programming. These programs include After-School Program, Day Camp, and drop-in Kidzone (babysitting). The focus of the job is to ensure the satisfaction and well-being of the participants involved in your department.
A Bachelors degree in a related field is preferred but not required. A good working knowledge of community issues and creativity is a must. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid. Current driver’s license with acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance. Must possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and general public. Knowledge of the rules and organization of all programs in family and child care. Ability to communicate well with staff, volunteers and program participants. Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and other program sites and to lift 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Must have mental ability to remember names. Must be able to speak clearly and articulate accurate information. Personality traits must include honesty, friendliness, dependability, self-initiative and a respect for personal and property rights. Maturity, tactfulness and good judgement are needed to handle supervision problems.
Implement all Family & Child Care department policies and procedures. Coordinate all family-type programs with emphasis on drug-free and alcohol-free activities. Coordinate all Childcare programs with emphasis on meeting and exceeding State minimum standards for School Age Childcare. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate staff to coincide with the National YMCA Childcare program. Develop and maintain both department budget and all other financial reports. Coordinate and oversee all payments, scheduling of payments, billing and invoicing for childcare programs. Recruit, train and supervise volunteers and staff within your department to operate programs. Implement and Administer new programs. Conduct monthly meetings with your committee assignments. Attend quarterly program directors meetings and weekly staff meetings. Work one Director on Duty (DOD) evening a week. Partake in the membership process and give tours. Oversee all building rentals and Birthday parties. Any other work deemed necessary by the Association Council (CEO, Branch Executive Director, AD of Programs, CFO and AD of Marketing & Mission Advancement).
First Aid/Safety (can train). Bachelors degree in Education or Childcare preferred but not required.
