Job Description

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the District Vice President, Executive Director IV manages the overall operations of a Learning Center, including staff and programs. The Executive Director IV supervises, develops and implements licensed childcare programming and curriculum, and identifies business opportunities.

Qualifications
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; early childhood education, special needs education, or related field of study preferred. Master’s degree a plus. 
  • Florida Director’s Credential – Advanced and VPK Endorsed - maintain active status(must have within 6 months of employment, possession in advance is highly preferred).
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience as a childcare Director. 
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience with fiscal management, enrollment growth and retention, fund raising, program management, community relationship building, facility care required. 
  • Experience with APPLE, NAC, and/or NAEYC accreditation process required. 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; Procare experience a plus.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.  

Work Environment

  1. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
  2. Must be willing to work an on-call schedule rotation as required.
  3. Must be willing to travel within Central Florida. Must have a valid Driver license. The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
  4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. 
  5. The physical activities of this position include: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions. Talking is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, with or without correction.
  6. Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment. 
  7. The employee must be able to perform light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  8. The employee is required to have close visual acuity, along with the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer screen, extensive reading, or to make general observations of facilities or structures. 
  9. Must possess auditory and verbal capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person.
  10. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Essential Functions

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the Learning Center’s operational budget to achieve a positive financial surplus, positive revenue growth and fully funded reserves.
  • Recruit, select, develop and retain appropriate skill depth level of department leads for the Learning Center. Supervise department leadership and Learning Center staff. Establish training and career succession plan for department leads. 
  • Provide leadership to Learning Center staff through establishment of high-performance goals and standards, regular assessment of staff performance including annual performance evaluations, and staff meetings. 
  • Direct Learning Center growth strategies and initiatives, resulting in positive growth of enrollment. 
  • Guide positive growth in Learning Center enrollment retention through development of instructional programs, program evaluation, and promotion of diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement quality programs and schedules to meet the needs of parents and students. Encourage and listen to parent feedback to improve program quality. 
  • Identify and employ best practices in systems and technology to support efficient and effective management of the Learning Center. 
  • Maximize facility usage during operating hours. Manage and maintain clean facilities, property, and equipment within the Learning Center.
  • Oversee the employee safety program and ensure that liability risk exposures are identified and resolved within the Learning Center. Ensure all staff are current with required certifications. 
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive professional relationship with the Disney partners.
  • Promote the YMCA of Central Florida’s special events throughout the community and Learning Center. 
  • Collaborate with the Learning Center’s Parent Advisory Board and volunteer committees to educate the community about the work of the YMCA of Central Florida and its mission. 
  • Engage, recruit and develop key community leaders for the Learning Center’s Parent Advisory Board. Maintain contacts with political, business, and civic leaders, as well as community groups and schools to develop a solid volunteer structure. 
  • Provide leadership and understanding of the mission of the YMCA of Central Florida to staff, members and the community. 
  • Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Central Florida in the Learning Center and its programs. 
  • Serve as a member of the Association Management Team to support and impact the overall objectives of the Association. 
  • All other duties assigned by Management. 
  • Focused on driving Learning Center growth through specific monthly and annual goals and balanced budgets
  • Produce a balanced operations budget.
  • Focus on quality through annual parent surveys
