Job Description

The Associate Director is responsible for providing support to the Senior Program Director, and will aid in the planning and execution of program specifics while providing guidance to staff, parents, and children to ensure satisfaction and success of the overall program. The Associate Director will be responsible for helping implement before and after-school programming at multiple locations as well as implementing summer camp activities. The Associate Director will create a safe, caring, and enriching environment for the children enrolled in the YMCA Childcare programs, ensuring compliance with all standards set by the Illinois State Licensing Bureau and will assist in ensuring that staff adheres to all YMCA Childcare Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Driver's License Required
  • One year's experience working with children in a developmental setting required.
  • Supervisor experience required.
Essential Functions
  • Assist with bus driving and training of new bus drivers on a small non-CDL, 14-passenger vehicle (does not require a special license)
  • Design and implement weekly lesson/activity plans
  • Assist Senior Director with training and evaluating staff and participants
  • Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents, or co-workers
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with school staff including principal, secretaries, custodial staff and teachers of key importance to the after-school programs
  • Ensure accurate documentation of attendance, absences, and emergency information on each child at all sites
  • Assist Senior Director with collection procedures to ensure financial liability is low
  • Maintain communication with all sites to ensure all supplies, equipment and materials are at adequate levels
  • Meet with Food Program to maintain proper levels of snacks for mornings and afternoons
  • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, and staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
