Job Description
The Maintenance Technician II performs work independently on preventative, routine and emergency maintenance for the building, building support systems, and membership program equipment. May plan individual projects, order supplies, and provide direction and instruction to other Maintenance Technicians or others supporting the project.
Qualifications
- Five years’ experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or other specialty skill areas. Demonstrated excellent skills and the ability to work independently and provide leadership with specific tasks.
- Vocational/Technical certifications preferred.
- An intermediate understanding of buildings and the operation and maintenance of building systems.
- Knowledge of safe and correct operation of the equipment, procedures, and technique to perform the required tasks.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment. Understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation, safety regulations and possession of a pool operator’s certification. If not in possession of one, have the ability to obtain one as soon as the training course is available.
- Demonstrated skills in organization, time management, and coordination of workload.
- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Essential Functions
Key Responsibilities:
- You will perform preventative, routine and emergency maintenance for the building, its support systems and program equipment
- Operate and maintain the swimming and hydrotherapy pools at functioning levels
- Operate and maintain the heating and air conditioning systems to ensure member satisfaction
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance repairs as needed
- Maintain product inventory listings, Material Safety Data Sheets
- Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
Required Certifications
Vocational/Technical certifications preferred
Pool operator’s certification required - training course available
