Job Description

Under the supervision of the CEO, the Director of Health and Wellness develops, organizes, and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA wellness activities including, but not limited to group exercise, personal training, chronic disease programs, new member orientations and youth wellness activities.

Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·      Experience with training clients.

·      Supervisory experience a plus.

·      Proficient computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office.

·      Good interpersonal, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

·      Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

·      Completion of YMCA certifications/training currently in effect and as may be amended from time to time.

·      Valid driver’s license.

·      Capacity to work a flexible schedule and respond to emergent situations.

Essential Functions

·         Creates an other-focused culture in all interactions. Ensures a level of service and engagement that fosters relationships and a sense of belonging in fulfillment of the YMCA mission.

·         Directs and supervises wellness activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new wellness activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

·         Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.

·         Creates and schedules wellness activities.

·         Lead, direct and/or teach activities/classes for which employees or volunteers cannot be secured.

·         Purchase supplies for department as needed and assist with coordination of equipment maintenance and repairs.

·         Assists in the marketing and distribution of wellness information.

·         Helps develop and manage health and wellness budget to meet fiscal objectives.

·         Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

·         Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.

·         Compiles wellness program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.

·         Maintains a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

·         Attends all meetings that are pertinent to this position including Y Leadership trainings, Director meetings, and relevant task forces and affinity groups.

·         Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.

Required Certifications

·      Completion of YMCA certifications/training currently in effect and as may be amended from time to time.
